I've been a professional photographer for over 14 years. My pathway into becoming a photographer was slightly unusual as I got into the industry quite late, at the grand old age of 24! Whilst living in the Netherlands I managed to pick up a job working as a photographer at a huge flower shower in Amsterdam. Think Chelsea flower show and you get the idea! After really enjoying the public interaction as well as the creative side I looked for courses on how to become a professional photographer and this led me to moving back to the UK and embarking on a diploma course at Reading College of Arts and Design. Upon finishing the course I was lucky enough to land a plum job as a staff photographer for the Bath Chronicle daily newspaper. I loved living and working in Bath, it’s such a cool city and even more so these days with the redevelopment of Southgate.
After working for over 7 years in Bath shooting everything from weddings to police raids I moved to Cheltenham where I worked for the daily newspapers Gloucestershire Echo and Gloucester Citizen. It’s definitely fun and varied working for newspapers. Like weddings, no two days are the same and the experience provided me with amazing opportunities to work with celebrities & royalty such as Sir Terry Wogan, Sir David Jason, Sir Ranulph Fiennes and The Queen to name a few! I have also attended events of immense happiness, sadness as well as the peculiar like Gloucestershires annual cheese rolling competition!
For the past 5 years I have been running my own business Kevin Fern Photography. My specialism is weddings which I absolutely love! I’m not into the stuffy old style wedding photography of a million group shots and cheesy grins instead I use the skills I have learnt over the years and my creative eye to produce stylish, documentary vibrant ,fun images!
During the summer months I can be found travelling all across the country photographing weddings, from the Cotswolds, to London, Devon and Nottingham!
In my spare time I love being a human climbing frame for my energetic nephews, watching sports and exploring the great outdoors!
